Tips for Grinding Wheels "Chapter 2"

Tips on whetstones Chapter 2 "What is grinding?"

About grinding

What is "grinding"?

"Grinding" is the use of abrasive grains to grind the surface of a workpiece to smooth it.
Grinding is a processing method that grinds the surface of a workpiece with a grinding wheel that rotates at high speed and is attached to a grinding machine.
A grinding wheel is made by solidifying abrasive grains with a large hardness of 1 mm or less with a binder to form a disk, which is rotated and brought into contact with the surface of the workpiece for grinding.

Just listening to this method sounds like nothing different from "cutting".

The phenomenon that the abrasive grains grind the surface is the same as "cutting", but in "grinding", each abrasive grain is small and the abrasive grains are not evenly arranged on the circumferential surface, so many random grains are used. It can be said that the point that the blade is related to cutting at the same time is different from "cutting".
